In Memoriam of Dr. Squat.

Earlier this week, we lost legend, Dr. Fred Hatfield [@DrSquat1]. Better known to some as “Dr. Squat”, Hatfield served as inspiration and knowledge for those of us in the strength community. To say that Dr. Hatfield was a gifted lifter would be an understatement and to say that he was an incredible human, an insult. Frederick was raised as an orphan from his birth until he was 18 after which he served in the Marine Corps and later earned his PhD in motor learning.

No matter if Dr. Hatfield was shattering world powerlifting records, which he did twice, or writing about the science of training…he did so by pouring his heart into each endeavor. Dr. Hatfield was known to be an eloquent speaker, particularly on his favorite topic of Passion. We were lucky enough to sit down with him for a special episode of The Long Road.

EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.

Visit this episode’s blog post on www.powerathletehq.com to get the video for this interview. The Long Road video contains extra footage and conversation with Doc as well as John’s reflections after speaking with Dr. Hatfield in person for the first time.

Linked up in the show notes is also Episode 68 – our first conversation with Fred Hatfield. Thank you, Doc, for your years of service to the strength community and for leaving no weight unlifted. We are eternally grateful.
