Adapt, Overcome

We just can’t get enough Ron McKeefery [@RMcKeefery]. His enthusiasm for coaching is fueled by his sense of obligation to change lives. If you’re looking for motivation to jump start your own passion for training others, you NEED to listen to this episode. He’s made weight room leadership an art by studying the greats and by field testing his own philosophies. This includes defining “good” for the athletes with lofty pro goals. Learn how Ron harnesses their desire for sport success by showing them exactly where they are…and where they need to be. Suddenly, you as a coach become that integral vehicle to making change, first physically, then psychologically.
The difference between a pro athletes and that elite college football player or non-draft pick, is not their physical attributes. It’s their ability to adapt to different stimuli, mentally and physically. This is where great coaches can shine or shadow their athletes. As Ron McKeefery [@RMcKeefery] explains, there is an element of manipulation that occurs in every weight room culture. You can call it “buy-in”, or investment, or connection. These terms all point to a system in place that produces a sense of reward and a sense of challenge in an endless cycle of improved performance. How exactly can you achieve this with your own athletes? Open your ears and release your fears…Power Athlete Radio is your dojo and Ron McKeefery is this week’s sensei.

EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.
