Developing athletes into Adults

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Donnie Maib [@DonnieMaib] has been crushing athletics since his own career as a defensive tackle at UGA. Currently, Donnie is Assistant Athletic Director at UT specializing his efforts in women’s volleyball and men’s tennis. Maib is an incredibly well read and informed coach who has had inspiring experiences with notorious names in strength and conditioning. This includes our good buddy, Fred Hatfield. Hear Donnie’s take on current weight room culture, recruiting evolutions, and the trajectory of college sports.

Life as a college strength and conditioning intern can be full of challenges and rewards. Our very own Tex @McQuilkin worked under the leadership of this week’s guest Donnie Maib [@DonnieMaib] of UT. Hear from Donnie how Tex was able to set himself apart from the average intern and earn the respect of peers in his profession. Also, Coach Maib lays out the traits he considers most and least desirable among potential recruits. You better believe that how you portray yourself on social media will forever reflect your character. This is why Power Athlete never posts anything controversial or in poor taste. Classy shit only.

EMPOWER YOUR PERFORMANCE.

You can follow Donnie Maib on instagram @DonnieMaib or don’t. With all that talk of being inundated with social media, maybe we could use a break.

Speaking of taking a break. It’s time for another installment of “why you should attend the 2018 Power Athlete Symposium in Austin, TX”. This week I bring you tortilla chips. If you are like me, you are not from Texas but love a good tortilla chip. Well, I have yet to find anywhere that compares to the delicious crispy treats as made fresh nearly everywhere in Austin. That’s why every year I maintain a significant chip deficit until December when I attend ChipFest aka the Symposium. I hold myself to a steady 700 chip minimum just to get me through until next year.
